The Daily Star claims that Arsenal will try again to sign Loic Remy, who is reported to have a clause in his contract that means he can leave for just £6million.
This is less than half that Marseille were asking for when Arsenal showed an interest in January. With Arsene Wenger unsure over whether the French striker would adapt to the English game, he decided against signing the player, who eventually went to QPR.
With Harry Redknapp’s side now facing the very real threat of relegation, Remy could be available in the summer, and he has shown himself to be a decent Premier League player in his time at the club.
Arsenal have been on the lookout for strikers since selling Robin van Persie last summer, with Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski still adapting to English football and having a mixed time in their first season at the Emirates. Remy would be a decent option, certainly at that price, and Wenger has a fondness for nurturing young talent, particularly from his native France.
Another QPR player linked with the Gunners is commanding centre-back Christopher Samba. He could be available for £12million if Rangers go down, and a defender is understood to be high on the manager’s priority list this summer as well.
QPR have spent big on some good players, so it would make sense that they might struggle to keep them if they go down. A raid from Arsenal might be a good idea if they’re looking for players on the cheap.
