Spurs and Arsenal to compete for Remy

The Guardian claims that Spurs will compete with Arsenal for Loic Remy if QPR are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

The French striker has impressed for Harry Redknapp’s side since moving from Marseille in the January transfer window, but looks like he will be unable to save the club from relegation.

Remy had been a target for Arsenal while at Marseille, but there were doubts over whether he would settle in England. Those questions appear to have been settled now, and a number of clubs are looking to move for him, especially with a relegation release fee of £8million.

Other QPR players on high wages are likely to leave as well, but Remy would be a useful addition at both Arsenal and Tottenham, two clubs who are likely to look to improve their strikeforce this summer. Arsenal are lacking depth upfront following the departure of Robin van Persie, while Spurs have found Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe terribly off form for much of the season.

Arsenal may have the edge with their French connection – a large number of French or French-speaking players, and of course the manager Arsene Wenger, who is very highly regarded in France. This looks like a good move for us, and there’s a decent chance it could happen.
