It was reported over the weekend that a deal to bring Julio Cesar to Napoli on a season long loan was all but done, but his agent, Josias Cardoso, has today being speaking to the Italian press and it seems that isn’t quite the case and the QPR chief executive then contradicts him.
Surprising eh?
Cardoso said
“It’s [Napoli] not all done yet – there are many possibilities but there are some details to be resolved between the player and Napoli.
“When will the signature arrive? I don’t know, it could be today, or in a few days.
“There has been some interest from Spain, but nothing concrete. The only two concrete tracks are Arsenal and Napoli.”
QPR confirmed that there have been no concrete bids for the player whom manager ‘Arry Redknapp has previously admitted would leave this summer. That would make you wonder how Cesar is close to joining any club if QPR haven’t received a firm offer for him.
Their chief executive, Philip Beard, said
“There’s nothing firm. He is Brazil’s No.1 goalkeeper, so I’m sure he’ll interest a lot of clubs as the season starts to get closer.
“We’ll look at what deals are on offer and if they’re right for us and the player. Having Brazil’s No.1 keeper in the Championship would be an interesting dynamic. We might see something happen.”
Arsenal have been linked with the Brazilian number one keeper since last summer when the player himself admitted that he almost signed for Arsenal before deciding to head to QPR instead where he cited the ability to become a director at the club at a later date as him reason for choosing them over Arsenal. Not the money, of course.
As with most of the goings on this summer, it’s hard to know anything until it is official as stories are changing depending on a journalist’s mood. As everyone tries to get their headline ahead of everyone else, many are resorting to taking a punt in the hope that they guess right.
So far, it has all been spectacular for all the wrong reasons.
